Ryan Lacson is a science teacher at Galena High School in Galena, Missouri. In addition to Ryan’s work in the classroom, Ryan was a cofounder of the Missouri Biology Teachers Association and is the communications chair for the Science Teachers of Missouri. Nationally, Ryan was the Conference Committee Chair for the 2017 National Association of Biology Teachers PD Conference in St. Louis. Ryan was recognized as the 2015 Science Teachers of Missouri HS Science Teacher of the Year & the 2017 Outstanding Biology Teacher Award winner for Missouri. - When starting his career, Ryan did not get a sense that teaching was as respected a profession as medicine, but doesn’t regret his choice at all.
- While “co-founding” the Missouri Biology Teachers Association, Ryan credits many other people for getting the organization going including Jaclyn Reeves-Pepin, Pam Close, Heather Essig, and Tom Freeman
- Aaron is a bit jealous of Ryan’s experience with the CDC Science Ambassador Fellowship.
- Ryan admits to having a “crush” on the CDC while Aaron has been a CDC fanboy since he read “…And the Band Played On” back in the late 80’s.
- Ryan used to work in a school in the “Greater Ozarks Centers for Advanced Professional Studies” or GO CAPS program promoting professional skills for students which will aide in their transition into future careers.
